5.29.2023 - Keeping one active


I have started my own physical therapy on my shoulder. If I stay consistent with it, I have seen a lot of good changes with range of motion and strength. It really tightens up over night and with the upcoming Michigan mousing trip I need to get back to as close as I can to 100%.

I took off two weeks from the gym and weight training. I will return to the gym restarting on Tuesday.

Today’s bike ride was only 7 miles long, but the gradient from the hills made my legs turn into jelly. I just need to stay the course and take baby steps.

5.24.2023 Life Update

So, I started to work out three months ago. I was going on Tuesday and Fridays.  I was weight training for 2 hours on Tuesday and then 1.5 hours on Friday. I was being careful or so I thought and started with low weight.  Three weeks ago, I felt my right shoulder starting to hurt. It has developed into a serious range of motion issues. This also my casting arm also and with my upcoming vacation this is a concern.

I have since changed my sleeping position to a slightly sitting up posture and this has really helped. I have not been back to the gym, and I also hit a milestone with my weight at 200 pounds.

I went to my doctor, and he prescribed me some more powerful anti-inflammatory medication. I normally take Aleve, and this barely touched the pain.

The weight training has come to a halt until I get through some physical therapy. My doctor gave me some exercises to do, and I will give myself another week of no exercise minus the daily routine stuff. I need to also remember that I just moved, and I am biking a little bit, so I am getting some exercise.

Thank heaven for my good friend and fishing buddy and his son this past Saturday. Without them I would never have been able to move into my new place.

I want to go chase smallies, but I really need to get my shoulder better before I go and swing an eggbeater and or a fly rod.

I have 31 days until my mousing in Michigan tour!

First day riding my mountain bike to work

 Well, I survived and with the aid of my highly reflective backpack cover and LED front and rear lights.   It took me about 30 mins to get here.  There where hills but with long grades up n down.  

My body did get a good pump and my shoulder still feels so much better than it was.  

I will be going back to the gym starting tomorrow but dialing the weights way back.  I don't want to injure it again.   

Being older is a struggle, but one needs to do what one can.

Excited

I was able to have an impromptu tour of the new mobile-home.  There is so much room and no worries I will have it all planned out.  

It will take time on a single income to furnish it the way I want.  It's funny now my bed and TV will be in two different rooms.  Lol

It's a good thing and I also got approved for the sidewalk and patio I want to install.   

Fun times ahead.

5.7.2023 Life news

Well, I am still waiting to move into my mobile home.  The stairs are built now, and I am supposedly getting the keys on the 15th.  

I have been back at the gym now for three calendar months.  

The only thing is I am only going on Tuesdays and Fridays. 

Tuesday workout is 2 hours long and Fridays is one and half hours long.  I started out doing three sets of each exercise and 12, 10, and 8 reps. Last week I increased my reps to 14, 12, and 10. I will continue this for two months before the next increase. 

I have noticed sustained weight loss and the beginning of defining muscle from flab. 

Lol I am happy with the sustained weight loss. 

I am not doing any crazy diet. I cut out butter and no more artificial sweetened drinks.  I don’t drink soda regularly.  

I replaced most of my red meat with chicken.  I cut out white rice and now it’s brown rice. I eat only whole wheat bread. 

I have started to ride my mountain bike more. When I move, I will be biking to work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. 

Weight training will be on Tuesdays and Fridays. 

Fishing has taken a back seat until I move. I am saving money etc.  Then on June 24th I will be headed to mouse and swat mosquitos in the upper lower peninsula of Michigan.  I also will be traveling back to take photos of the Big Mac Bridge and maybe see the northern lights in the Dark Park https://www.midarkskypark.org/

5.4.2023 Life Update

 Well, the new home is not ready and will not be ready until the 15th May.  So, with a deep breath and a little anxiety I wait.  Lol

The Michigan Mousing vacation is in 51 days.  

I'm gonna try to get up to Lake Ontario for a day of fishing soon.
