The prelude to the dog days of summer is here well kind of!

The overnight lows have been in the low 50’s!  This normally wrecks rough fishing and that would be my experience today.  I did not mind because I also needed to start getting into better shape “lose some prednisone weight”. Several months ago I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis and went through a battery of tests. This also included a bronchoscopy and taking samples of my lungs, lymph nodes, and others. I am fine and recovered “nothing was cancerous”.

I chose the same section of the Crooked River. This time she had a lot of silt in the water column but had 36” of visibility. Her flows were low and very wadable. I had deer snorting at me with their fawns and very unhappy woodpeckers.

I used top water lures and jigs with 3” soft grub bodies “power bait power grubs (milky shad 3” long).

I lost numerous jigs ...lol... that is what they are for.  I hiked for about 4 miles today as I slowly but surely lose some weight to get in better shape for vacation and the fall fishing.

I got a new reel (thank you Lou ole friend!). It’s a Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT 4000D-C and I put it on my AVID St Croix 9’ 2 pc (AS90MHF2) “St. Croix discontinued this model (dumb idea)”.

I use it for a surf, steelhead, lakers, carp, smallies, and saltwater stripers! It’s been a great rod.

Well, I hope you like the photos and be well folks!
