Beaver Creek State Park Hike
At Beaver Creek State Park you find so many things to do in
the warmer months. Here is a link to there website here
Along with fishing opportunities you can canoe, hike, picnic,
and take tours. They have an operating mill that is one of the last fully
operational mills in Ohio.
The hiking trails are also used in some sections as bridle
trails so be aware of that.
The park permits hunting during the regular season. While I
was down there today it was shotgun season for deer. I saw two sets of drag
marks where people dragged their deer back to their vehicle. I saw one other
hunter today and that was it.
I wear a fluorescent green backpack cover, and it’s posted
that the park recommends hunter orange while on the trails.
Winter Weather Hike 12.6.2025
Today I was planning on doing my first winter creek
hike. Mother nature has decided to make it challenging to do so. She’s calling
for the potential of freezing rain. This is an issue also because the rain will also melt snow.
This has the potential to cause the creek to rise and maybe
make it impossible to cross. I will be in a gorge without a way to get out thusly
trapping me in the gorge.
I will error on the side of caution and listen to the signs
that mother nature is sending.
